Practical IT Planning for Local Government
Technology decisions in local government often need to fit annual budgets, purchasing procedures, leadership approvals, existing infrastructure, and long-term replacement schedules. RCS can help turn technical needs into practical recommendations that government leaders can understand, plan for, and budget around.
Asset & Lifecycle Planning
Maintain visibility into supported technology and identify systems approaching replacement.
Technology Replacement Planning
Help prioritize aging workstations, servers, network equipment, and other infrastructure so replacement decisions can be planned instead of becoming emergencies.
Budget Planning
Provide technology recommendations that can help leadership anticipate upcoming technology expenses.
Network & Infrastructure Improvements
Assist with upgrades, replacements, connectivity improvements, and modernization projects.
Cybersecurity Planning
Help identify practical opportunities to improve protection, backups, endpoint security, and technology practices.
Vendor & Project Coordination
Work with internet providers, software vendors, hardware vendors, and other technology partners during projects and troubleshooting.
Technology Documentation
Provide useful documentation and recommendations that can support internal review, purchasing decisions, and long-term planning.
Our role is not simply to recommend more technology. We help organizations understand what they have, what should be addressed next, and how technology decisions can fit operational and budget priorities.

Using Internet and Phone Savings to Connect Municipal Buildings
The Challenge
City Hall, the fire department, municipal court, and police department were located close to one another, but each had its own internet connection and separate phone system, creating multiple recurring bills.
How RCS Helped
RCS worked with the municipality to consolidate internet service around City Hall and move phone service to a regional VoIP provider on the State of Mississippi contract (RFP 5000). That same provider upgraded City Hall’s main internet connection to fiber.
The Resolution
The recurring savings funded equipment to connect the fire department, municipal court, and police department back to City Hall. Those savings also paid for an enterprise-grade firewall and managed network switches to improve security. With the buildings connected, RCS extended the existing system for managing employee sign-ins and computer access across the other locations.
The Takeaway
Money previously spent on separate internet and phone services helped pay for lasting improvements across four municipal buildings. By redirecting those recurring savings into one-time equipment purchases, the municipality gained connected departments, stronger network security, and a more consistent way to manage its technology.
